Jordanelle East Side

Advantages

The major advantage of living on the east side is the views. The views are by far the #1 reason to live on this side of the lake… and access to all the recreation the Uinta Mountains have to offer, which are endless! Most of the east side of the Jordanelle sits within the town of Hideout. However, Tuhaye is not part of the town. Hideout has a bit of a colorful past, you can read more about it here. It’s super important that you work with a real estate agent who knows the ins and outs of the area because there are nuances about transfer fees and taxes you should be aware of before purchasing.

Ross Creek Recreation Area boasts an extensive trail system that is perfect for any outdoor enthusiast. The Perimeter Trail is the main recreational path, winding its way along Jordanelle Reservoir and connecting to other trails in the area. This 6-mile loop offers stunning views of the lake and scenery, as well as the chance to spot a variety of wildlife such as deer, eagles, beavers, and more. For those looking for more variety, the Lower Ross Creek Trail leads off from the Perimeter Trail into a valley with spectacular views of the reservoir. Hikers will find themselves surrounded by wildflowers and shrubs as they make their way through majestic pine forests. Mountain bikers also have plenty of excellent terrain to explore within this trail system, including rolling hills and diverse terrain that range from easy to challenging. Equestrians will be pleased to know that there are hitching posts available throughout the park for their convenience and safety.

For those who prefer non-motorized boats or kayaks, there is a boat ramp at Ross Creek that provides exclusive access for these users away from motorized vessels. These trails provide ample opportunities for outdoor exploration and adventure – no matter what your activity of choice may be! Whether it’s in the Park (fee-accessed area) or within the many subdivisions/community trails, you are bound to find a trail that suits your needs.

SHOPPING

Shopping will be similar to living in the northern part of the Jordanelle and “Food Town” in Kamas may be your closest, most convenient option. There is also a liquor store and Ace Hardware in the same shopping center! Many homeowners will piggyback their shopping with a ski day or trip to Salt Lake Valley. We’ve also had a great experience with instacart deliveries in this area. Which provides access to all kinds of shopping with the convenience of delivery.

Eating

Most of your closest dining options are in Kamas. One of our favorites is Mirror Lake Diner, which offers traditional American diner classics for breakfast and lunch. The menu features dishes like omelets, French toast, pancakes, burgers, and sandwiches made with fresh ingredients sourced from local farmers. For something more unconventional, Hi Mountain Pharmacy serves up delicious burgers with special toppings like peanut butter and bacon jam. Lastly, State Road Tavern is an upscale spot where you can find creative takes on classic dishes like prime ribeye steak with blueberry balsamic glaze or grilled trout with lemon caper butter sauce. And of course, you can call on over 200 restaurants in the Park City area for more options.
